Habitat Omaha partners with families that need safe and affordable housing. We eliminate vacant lots and abandoned homes in the blighted areas of North and South Omaha while improving the overall appearance of our community. Our homeowners are required to complete 350 hours of Sweat Equity before purchasing their homes through 25 or 30-year no-interest mortgages. Through Habitat Omaha, more than 300 families have realized the dream of homeownership and are ending the cycle of poverty for their children. In 2011, Habitat Omaha will build or renovate 31 homes. This Luncheon is a tribute to women and serves as the official kick-off and celebration of Habitat Omaha's 2011 Women Build. The event is designed to bring in friends and funds needed to help fulfill Habitat Omaha's mission. Not only does the event give Habitat Omaha the opportunity to share its mission with business leaders and community volunteers it also provides the chance to thank those companies and individuals for their contributions of time, talents and treasures.
